Make a Success of Your Denture
Many people face the prospect of an artificial denture with considerable apprehension. The purpose of this pamphlet is to assist you in managing your new dentures.
Natural teeth are held firmly in the jaws, but artificial dentures rest firmly upon the gum tissues. It is not surprising, therefore, that although good appearance can often be easily restored, good function is more difficult.
Success with your new dentures depends on many factors:
Good general health, and a healthy mouth with well-shaped jaws
Good design and construction of the dentures
Your adaptability, willingness to lean, and determination to succeed
A learning period which may take a weeks, or even months
No two mouths are alike, and so advice from your friends may not be too helpful
Your case is individual, and your dentist is the best person to properly advice and help you
Be encouraged by the fact that most denture wearers have little difficulty. You too can be a successful denture wearer.
